Arm Tuck: Overview
If your arms are loose from weight loss or aging, Dr. Michael W. Gray can restore tightness and a more even contour with an arm tuck. This procedure is designed to reduce excess skin of the arm (Inner Arm Tuck) or excess skin and fat (Posterior Arm Tuck). The procedure corrects unsightly skin folds that can cause skin irritation or interfere with your ability to wear sleeveless tops. Why wait any longer for the arms you’ve always wanted? Inner Arm Tuck:
During an Inner Arm Tuck, Dr. Gray reduces excess skin with an elliptical excision of the skin on the inner aspect of the arm. The ends are tapered at the elbow and armpit to provide a smooth closure. The procedure can be extended into the armpit if needed to remove more skin. The Inner Arm Tuck reduces skin and tightens the arm but does not reduce fat. With this procedure, the scar is hidden on the inner arm. Fat reduction procedures ( External Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction, Smart Lipo or Zerona ) can be performed anytime if the reduction of fat is desired.
Posterior Arm Tuck:
During a Posterior Arm Tuck, Dr. Gray reduces excess SKIN and FAT with an elliptical excision of the skin on the posterior aspect of the arm. The ends are tapered at the elbow and armpit to provide a smooth closure. One of the advantages of this procedure is that SKIN and FAT is removed making the armeven thinner and tighter. The scar is on the posterior aspect of the arm.
Arm Tuck: Recovery
There is minimal discomfort with arm tucks. Usually, no pain medicine is required. Aggressive arm movements are restricted for 3 weeks. Patients can return to work with these restrictions the next day.
